Mid-Week News

January 13, 2021

During COVID-19 we want to make sure we are keeping all of our 4-H families up to date as much as we possibly can! The entire Wyoming county 4-h staff is here for anything you and your families may need during this time so please do not hesitate to reach out to any of us with your question(s)!

4-H Club Meeting & Activity Guidance

At this time of increased COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and reduced healthcare capacities across the region, CCE Wyoming is continuing our suspension of all in-person 4-H programming through the end of January. We know this is disappointing news, and while we’re dismayed to continue our pause of in-person programming, we hope to ensure everyone’s safety. And while in-person programming may be on hold, our 4-H Team will continue to provide exciting virtual and hybrid at-home activities as outlined in this update.

We plan to continue our email and online updates, most likely on a bi-weekly basis, throughout the year. This will be in addition to our traditional 4-H News you receive in the mail every other month. The 4-H E-News will give quick reminders and updates for our current programs.Thank you again for your patience and please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions for virtual programming!

Tractor Certification & Safety Program...

Youth ages 10 and up may also register for our general tractor/farm safety sessions online. They will certainly look different than in the past but we will be able to offer some great safety videos, interactive activities and at home workbooks for participants. Email hmh62@cornell.edu to register.

Soil Painting Workshop…

  • Join us on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 9 AM for a soil painting virtual workshop. Kits will be provided for this workshop. Kits will include: soil, canvas, paint brush, and containers for paint. Families will need to provide supplies such as: pencil, paper towels, water, newspapers, a can of crystal-clear acrylic spray paint (to help preserve the paint project).

COST: $3 for supplies. Only 20 kits will be available!

RSVP for a kit by January 15th by calling the 4-H Office at (585) 786-2251 or email Stephanie at sal294@cornell.edu. Kits will be available for pick-up January 19th - 22nd.

Public Presentation Updates…

  • Public Presentations - Due to the uncertainty pertaining to in person events, the 4-H staff has decided to move public presentations to a completely virtual event.
  • If you are still interested in participating, please use the following link to register for specific days/times. Registration is due by February 1st!! We will still be scheduling meetings via zoom with evaluators, a 4-H educator and youth. Although this virtual option is not ideal, public speaking skills utilizing an online platform is more important now more than ever. We hope families still take advantage of this opportunity! Email Sarah at sac347@cornell.edu for any questions.

You all should receive in the mail this week the letter, order form and other important information for our 2021 cookie sale! We encourage ALL of our 4-H membership to participate. Not only can you gain gift card incentives based off the number of cases you sell, but this is the only fundraiser we ask of our membership all year, and without it our programming would look much different. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to any of the 4-H staff. You can find links for the incentive sheets, cash/checks sheet, cookie chair information, and letter below. If you need an extra order form, please email the 4-H staff.
