The meetings will focus on simple, nutritious recipes that use common items from your home pantry, and in season fresh produce when able. The class will also incorporate your own favorite recipes if you have family recipes you want to share. Participants will work to do recipe rehabilitation as well, using healthy substitutes for some ingredients to improve the overall nutrition of a recipe. At the conclusion of each session participants can share the freshly made food and take any leftovers home. The class size is kept small, as each class maxes out at 10 people.There will also be occasional canning and food preservation instruction with experts from Cornell Cooperative Extension.Sessions will be held monthly January through December. Registration and set up will start at 8:30AM. The contest will begin at 9AMAge categories (as of 1/1/26)Cloverbuds: 5 - 7 years oldJuniors: 8 - 12 years oldSeniors:13 - 19 years oldThe major ingredient of the recipe must feature a product grown or produced in NY State - such as fruits, vegetables, dairy or meat. Participants should consider U.S. dietary guidelines when selecting their recipes. *Please note Cloverbud recipes must be approved for appropriate skill level upon registration. During the silent demonstration 4-H’ers are judged on organization, neatness, proper use of equipment and manner of preparing the food. The finished product is judged on nutritional value, appearance and taste!
