Dr. Temple Grandin is a world-renowned expert in livestock behavior, animal health, and the design of animal facilities. She has published numerous articles on livestock behavior during handling, transport, loading, and stocking. Her research indicates that livestock handling in well-designed facilities minimizes stress levels, improves productivity, and maintains high meat quality. Facilities designed without the animal in mind can have undesirable consequences that impact product value as well as production efficiency.
Dr. Grandin invented safer and more comfortable methods for transporting livestock. Dr. Grandin's career began in the 1970s. Throughout her career, she invented ways to make transport safer and more comfortable for livestock. Dr. Grandin speaks about autism and her research. She writes, conducts research, and is a distinguished professor of animal science at Colorado State University.
