Join Don Gasiewicz, Wyoming County CCE Ag Program Manager/owner of Toad Song Mushroom and Connor Youngerman, mushroom production and agroforestry specialist at the Cornell Small Farms Program for an engaging workshop on shiitake mushroom cultivation! Whether you’re a hobbyist or aiming for commercial success, this workshop offers valuable knowledge for all levels of mushroom cultivation.

During this sesson participants will:

  • Be provided valuable insights into growing shiitakes and other outdoor-cultivated mushrooms as a profitable crop.
  • Actively engage in soaking, fruiting, and harvesting shiitake mushrooms, allowing them to apply these techniques in their own mushroom laying yard.
  • Leave with fresh mushrooms to taste.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of how to turn this exciting agricultural opportunity into a profitable venture

We will also discuss the specific small pole-sized trees harvested for inoculation, highlighting the reasoning behind selecting these trees as part of forest stewardship and improvement.
