American Ginseng Cultivation- Site Assessment Workshop
Friday, July 17th 5pm-7pm
2320 Centerline Rd. Varysburg, NY 14167
Join Tracey Testo and Ashley Schoenborn, CCE Columbia-Greene Agroforestry Educators, for an informative evening focused on cultivating American ginseng. This workshop will focus on ginseng site selection and plant identification. We will also cover essential topics including planting techniques, harvesting practices, marketing strategies, and an overview of current regulations.
Designed for individuals exploring alternative forest-based income opportunities, as well as those interested in small-scale cultivation for personal use, this session offers practical, research-based insights. Tracey and Ashley bring over a decade of experience in working with and teaching about this important native crop of New York State.
This session will primarily be outdoors and includes a short-moderate hike on maintained trails, in a forest setting. Please prepare accordingly. Accessibility accommodations can be made for anyone who cannot hike to the site. Please reach out to Don at 585 -786-2251 for questions and accommodations.
