for anything you and your families may need, please do not hesitate to reach
out to any of us with your question(s)!
Wyoming County 4-H Centennial
Celebration!
Wyoming County Fairgrounds, Pike, Sunday,
June 12th 12pm-4pm
- Our once in a lifetime centennial
celebration is TODAY, June 12th. Rain or shine, we have a fabulous afternoon
planned at the Wyoming County Fairgrounds. If you are planning on attending the
event, both the Water Street and Main Street entrances will be available for
parking. We’re asking that families do not park close to the barns unless they
physically need to. Most of the activity will be in the new Ag Expo Center and
the Youth Building. This is an event you don’t want to miss!
- There are still Beef on Weck
dinner tickets available for $12.00.
- Apparel orders for those who chose
to “ship to event” are available in the 4-H office. You may pick them up during business hours or
at the event.
- No pre-registration is required
for the Pie contest, information can be found HERE
on our website! We encourage youth and adults to participate. Remember – only double crust fruit
pies are allowed, with all homemade components!
Livestock
Program
Reminder that in order to show beef, sheep or pigs at the fair
(auction or non-auction) you need to participate in one of the approved
educational events for livestock. We are
looking for someone to host our swine showmanship clinic. Here is what is still available:
- Thursday, June
16th @ 7pm at the 4-H office – We will talk about how to reach out to potential
buyers for the meat animal auction and market your project animals. Please call the 4-H office beforehand to
register.
- Monday, June
20th @ 5pm – Sheep Showmanship at 1698 Nesbitt Road, Attica. Please call the 4-H office to register.
- Tuesday, June
28th @ 7pm – Beef Showmanship @ 2939 Glor Road, Attica. Please call the 4-H office to register.
- Swine
Showmanship Clinic – Details coming soon!
- Thursday,
July 14th @ 7pm – Last Chance Livestock Event at the Ag & Business
Center. Please call the 4-H office to
register.
- Meat Animal
Auction members, remember that you need to complete the online YQCA training by
July 15th in order to participate in the auction program. We have coupons to cover the cost of the
training in the office. Call the office
or email hmh62@cornell.edu for questions.
- Fair Animal
Health Paperwork Video Link - Dr. Carpenter, a Field Veterinarian from NYS Ag
& Markets put together a great virtual presentation on this year’s fair
requirements for animals. If you have
any questions or want to familiarize yourself with this year’s requirements,

Poultry
Program Updates
- NYS lifted
the ban on poultry shows so we are planning for a normal fair schedule. Pullorum testing will be held on July 13th at
the fairgrounds before the showmanship clinic. Details will be in the upcoming 4-H News.
Market
Poultry Program Kahoot!
Horse Program
- The LAST
educational event is scheduled for June 23rd at Diana Henry’s in Bliss! Come
learn about gaming patterns and learn some tips and tricks from past 4-H
members! This event will begin after the rider evaluation concludes,
approximately 6:30-6:45pm.
Dog Program
- Youth
enrolled in the 4-H dog obedience program should have received registration
paperwork for graduation, the summer trails, and fair! Don’t forget to get
those submitted ASAP if you haven’t already!
Dairy Program
- In order to show a dairy animal at the fair youth are required to
attend at least one dairy educational event. If youth have not participated in
at least one of the following they need to attend Dairy Challenge or the
Showing & Fitting Clinic. The following are approved educational events for
dairy cattle:
- Dairy Bowl

Goat
Program
- In order to
show a goat at the fair youth are required to attend at least one goat
educational event. If youth have not participated in at least one of the
following they need to attend Goat Challenge or the Showing & Fitting
Clinic. The following are approved educational events for goats:
