The entire Wyoming county 4-H staff is here for anything you and your families may need during this time so please do not hesitate to reach out to any of us with your question(s)!


Dog updates…

  • The two scheduled dog trials begin next week! If you did not pre-register but would like to attend, please call the 4-H office or email Sarah (sac347@cornell.edu). A reminder that the trial on Thursday July 8th is at Heritage Hill Farm in Perry (7618 Spear Rd Perry, NY) and the Tuesday July 13th trial will be at the Wyoming County Fairgrounds in Pike (off of Main Street).
  • All fair entries are due to the 4-H office by Thursday July 15th! The fair shows will take place off of water street in the baseball diamond.


Horse updates…

  • Reminder, that the SUMMER HORSE SHOW entry form is due next week, July 7th!! We would like as many pre-registrations for this event as possible. Click HERE for the website link for the entry form or stop into our office for a paper copy!
  • The last chance educational event AND rider evaluation will be Tuesday, July 13th at Heritage Hill Farm in Perry (7618 Spear Rd Perry, NY). Rider evaluations will begin at 6pm, and the Trail Clinic will begin immediately following, around 6:30/7pm. Please call the 4-H office or email Sarah (sac347@cornell.edu) to register for either event!
  • All fair entries with health paperwork are due to the 4-H office by Thursday July 15th!


Livestock updates...

There are three educational opportunities for showing any 4-H beef, sheep or swine at the fair this year. Please register in advance by calling the 4-H office.

  • Beef Showmanship: Thursday, July 8th at 7pm.3853 Silver Springs Road, Silver Springs
  • Livestock Activity Night (last chance event): Tuesday, July 13th at 7pm.Ag & Business Center, Warsaw
  • Sheep Showmanship: Thursday, July 15th at 6:00pm.1698 Nesbitt Road, Attica


Livestock scholarship program

Applications for the livestock scholarship program are being mailed to eligible participants. If you have any questions on this opportunity, please email Holly at hmh62@cornell.edu.


4-H meat animal market updates…

  • Remember that Fair Entries are due on July 15th. Even if you are only exhibiting auction animals, you need to fill out a fair entry. YQCA certificates are due on July 15th also. Contact the 4-H office if you need help with the YQCA program. The mid-year weight check and vert inspection is on Saturday, July 10th. See the June 4-H News for details


Rabbit & cavy updates…

  • The rabbit showmanship clinic is scheduled for Tuesday, August 10th at 7pm at the Wyoming County Fairgrounds, starting at 7pm.If you have not done an educational event (public presentations) you will need to attend this clinic. Please call the 4-H office to register in advance. You will also need to fill out a fair entry form and turn in it by July 15th.(This includes clover buds planning to show rabbits at the fair.).


Poultry Updates…

Pullorum Testing is scheduled for this coming Wednesday, July 7th at the Wyoming County Fairgrounds from 6-7pm, in the Livestock Barn. All chickens, age 4 months and over that will be exhibited at the fair need to be tested or accompanied by certificate from a hatchery that they originated from a pullorum free facility. Younger birds must have a certificate from the hatchery. Waterfowl does not need to be tested. Please call the 4-H office to sign up and let us know how many chickens you expect to bring. The poultry showmanship clinic on July 7th, immediately following pullorum testing is the last educational event opportunity for showing poultry at the fair. Please register by calling the 4-H office. You will also need to fill out a fair entry form and turn in it by July 15th. (This includes clover buds planning to show poultry at the fair.)


Goat updates…

  • Goat Showing and Fitting Clinic - Saturday, July 17, 2021 @ 10 AM @ Wyoming County Fairgrounds- Livestock Barn, *Last chance to fulfill the educational requirement needed to show goats at the fair*


Dairy updates…

  • Show Whites Exchange! - We all know the struggle of finding white pants for showing dairy cattle. Do you have old show white pants or shirts that don’t fit your kids? Parents may bring them to the Dairy Showing & Fitting Clinic to donate/exchange show whites.

Agriculture Expo Center Open House

  • For Dairy, Beef, and Goat exhibitors there will be an open house of the new Ag Expo Center (cattle barn) at the fairgrounds. The open house will take place on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 5-8 P.M. Clubs will be able to look at the new facility and plan for the fair. Guidelines will be handed out that explain what is available in the new barn and what you can and cannot bring/do. If you cannot attend that evening and need the guidelines please email Stephanie or Holly.


Youth building Updates…

  • We’re excited to welcome you back to the youth building at the Wyoming County Fair this year! We have many opportunities for fun in 2021. Please take a look at this packet for all information pertaining to Youth Building Activities and exhibit entry information. To sign up for volunteer opportunities and activities, you may either print and drop off the forms, call the 4-H office or email Sarah (sac347@cornell.edu).
  • We have limited availability “Bucket’s of Junk”!! Stop by or call the 4-H office to pick up one today! (May be done individually or within a group).
  • Reminder: All exhibits must be brought to the Youth Building FRIDAY AUGUST 13th from 1-7pm for evaluation this year! Refer to the Wyoming County Fair book (which are available for FREE at our office!) for all types of opportunities for static entries. HERE you will find the mini index for the youth building section. Any items made at home during 2020 or 2021 independently or with a club are eligible (please no school projects.) Although our 4-H program will not be sending on exhibits to the NYS Fair this year, we will still be selecting NYS Fair rosette winners, eligible for virtual 2021 evaluation.

Cake and Pie Auction…

  • Please consider baking a cake (decorated or specialty cake), pie (no cream pies) or platter of cookies for the 4-H Cake and Pie Auction which will begin at approximately 5:45 – 6:30 p.m., following the Meat Goat and Poultry portion of the Livestock Auction, which begins at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday August 18th.
  • Proceeds of the auction will benefit the Wyoming County 4-H Family and Consumer Sciences Fund to purchase youth building materials. Extra proceeds will be used to support the FCS Scholarship, Produced in NYS Foods Contest, Clothing Revue, International Food & Fun Night/Delicious Destinations event, and a variety of other workshops and activities.
  • Pre-registration required by Monday, August 5, 2021 by calling (585) 786-2251 or mailing the following information to the Wyoming County 4-H Office (36 Center Street, Suite B, Warsaw, NY 14569):
    • Name, address, email and phone number
    • Parent’s/guardian’s name
    • Club name/if applicable
    • Name of baked item
