During COVID-19 we want to make sure we are keeping all of our 4-H families up to date as much as we possibly can! The entire Wyoming county 4-H staff is here for anything you and your families may need during this time so please do not hesitate to reach out to any of us with your question(s)!


Important enrollment deadlines approaching…

  • March 31st is the Wyoming County 4-H enrollment deadline for new youth participating in the lamb, hog, goat, and poultry auction projects. Enrollees after this deadline can still participate in many 4-H project areas (but not the auction program.) General 4-H program enrollments will be accepted until June 1st in order to participate in fair time activities.


Meat animal updates…

  • Market Hog Selection Zoom Meeting -Thursday, April 1st at 7:00PM we will have an online session to learn about selecting your next market hog projects. Please register using this link https://reg.cce.cornell.edu/WYCO4-Hmarkethog_256e... . This event will satisfy the educational requirement to show beef, sheep, or pigs at the fair!


Market poultry updates…

  • Market Poultry Project Registration: Deadline March 31st - Details for the market poultry project were shared on page 18 of the February 4-H News. You can register for the project and order chicks here https://reg.cce.cornell.edu/WYCO4-Hmarketpoultry_... or by filling out the form in the 4-H news.


Dog obedience…

  • The 2021 Dog Obedience Program is gearing up to start in a few weeks! For all of the details – including where to find contact information for instructors, obedience training guides, and important dates – click HERE! If you have specific questions or concerns about the dog program, contact Sarah at sac347@cornell.edu.


Teen Opportunities…

  • STARR 2021 “Be The STARR Of Your Own Movie” – Join teens virtually from across NYS for this one day workshop on Saturday, May 1st.Complete details can be found here: https://nys4-h.org/starr (Event Concluded) Keynote Speaker: Kyle Scheele is a motivational speaker who talks making the world a better place and how it only takes one person to make a huge difference in another person’s life. There is a registration fee: $40 (scholarships available from the Wyoming County 4-H Leaders’ Association and TSC Clover Campaign Funds.)Each participant will receive a 2021 STARR T-shirt, mug, fidget items, and a chance to win some prizes! Contact Holly hmh62@cornell.edu if you are interested. The early registration deadline is April 6th.


NYS 4-H Capital Days...

  • April 27-29, 2021 (Zoom sessions from 6:00pm – 7:00pm each evening)
  • 4-H’ers ages 13-18, you are invited to attend the NYS 4-H Capital Days!
  • Cost: $25.00 for youth participants (Partial scholarships available from the Wyoming County 4-H Leaders’ Association and the Tractor Supply Clover Campaign. Call the 4-H office to inquire.)Registration fee for youth includes a conference t-shirt, and other program materials that will be mailed prior to the program.
  • Join us from the comfort of your own home as we get acquainted with our state government and connect with other teens from across the state! Hear from both a state senator and assemblyman as you learn how our legislative branch works. Explore our judicial system by meeting a NYS Supreme Court judge, enjoy a live presentation from the Department of Corrections, and activities from the Cornell Law School. Finally, learn about the executive branch and local government. Then choose an agency you can interact with that you would like to know more about: Department of Ag & Markets, Department of Parks & Recreation, Department of Education, and Department of Environmental Conservation. Add in live games and the chance to win prizes!

Virtual hippology...

  • It’s not too late to sign up for the virtual Kahoot! Hippology Contest for tomorrow!! Email Sarah at sac347@cornell.edu or click the link HERE to register for this event. Youth will have from 9AM-5PM Saturday 3/27 to complete their selected level of questions. Participation in this event satisfies the educational event requirement still in place for the 2021 4-H year.


Registration for animal crackers…

  • Animal Crackers - This statewide program will be held virtually during the month of May. Check out page 14 of the February 4-H News for complete details and email hmh62@cornell.edu if you are interested in participating. There is a $50 registration fee but that includes a workshop material kit and eight sessions!


Cookie sale…

  • THANK YOU to all of the volunteers, families and our 4-H community for making our cookie sale delivery day run fairly smoothly! At this point, most of the cookies have been distributed, and we have a very limited amount of packages leftover for sale. If you are interested in still purchasing cookies, call our office at 585-786-2251.
