FAIRGROUND BARN CLEAN-UP

  • Tuesday, August 8th at 5:30 PM
  • Dairy, Livestock, and small animal exhibitors come on out and help spruce up the barns before the fair starts! Bring shovels, brooms, rakes, pitchforks, wheelbarrows, etc.

BARN STALL SET-UP

  • Please keep in mind that Tuesday, August 8th is our 4-H Barn Clean-up. We would greatly appreciate everyone’s help in getting general cleanup done before clubs and individuals start setting up displays. With that said- exhibitors may start setting up after 7PM on Tuesday, August 8th. Also keep in mind that we really can’t have people “working” in the barns all hours of the night. It is 4-H’s responsibility to turn out the lights and lock things up the best we can each night. Please be respectful of these requests. Thank you in advance!

FAIR CHECK-IN OPPORTUNITY

  • As many exhibitors are aware the bridge connecting the Water St. parking lot to the Livestock barns is smaller in size. ABSOLUTLY NO LIVESTOCK ANIMALS SHOULD CROSS THIS BRIDGE. We are asking that trailers pull onto the fairgrounds from Main St. and continue up around the swine barn to unload. They can continue out across the horse bridge. To assist with Saturday morning move in day, we are also allowing non-auction animals (beef, dairy, sheep, goats) to move in Friday, August 11th from 6-9PM. Your cattle must stay on the trailer until the state vet has cleared them. The milking parlor will NOT be available Friday evening but can be set up Saturday morning for exhibitors. If you have any questions or plan on moving animals in on Friday night, let Stephanie know at sal294@cornell.edu or call the 4-H office.

MEAT ANIMAL AUCTION PHOTOS

  • Online auction photos and stories are due today! Please email them ASAP to hmh62@cornell.edu. If you have any questions, please reach out to Holly via email.

RABBIT SHOWMANSHIP CLINIC

  • All rabbit & cavy exhibitors need to attend the showmanship clinic on Tuesday, August 8th at 7:00pm. The meeting will be held at the poultry and rabbit barn at the fairgrounds. Exhibitors will also be able to sign up for work shifts during fair at that time.

*NEW* THIS YEAR – LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEER SUPERVISORS FOR THE YOUTH BUILDING

  • Many hands make the fair possible! We are seeking volunteers for varying shifts to help sweep the youth building in the mornings, maintain displays, and be available in the building to answer public questions and monitor the building. On evaluation day, there will be posters hung up with the shifts available. Please consider helping when possible! This will help the 4-H staff considerably with the immense behind-the-scenes workload that needs to get done throughout the week.
