DAIRY JEOPARDY

  • Tuesday, February 21st 6:30 PM at Ag & Business Center, Warsaw
  • Styled like the popular television game show, this fun filled event will include questions about cattle breeds, dairy products, dairy nutrition, and much more! Register by February 17th, call the office or email Stephanie at sal294@cornell.edu


HORSELESS HORSE CLUB MEETING

  • Monday, February 20th 6:30pm


ROPE HALTER WORKSHOP

  • Monday, February 20th at 9:30am, AG & Business Center, Warsaw
  • There are a few spots left to join us this coming Monday to learn how to make rope halters. Please email hmh62@cornell.edu before Monday.

LIVESTOCK SKILL-A-THON

  • Saturday, March 4th @ 9:30am, Ag & Business Center, Warsaw
  • Identification and problem-solving stations that include many aspects of the livestock industry. Youth will work through stations to identify items such as common equipment, breeds, parts of animals, meat cuts, etc… At the conclusion of the stations, we will go back through and discuss the correct answers to review information. Please register in advance by calling the 4-H office.

LIVESTOCK PROGRAM Q&A

  • Tuesday, March 7th @ 7:00pm, Ag & Business Center, Warsaw
  • Informational session for families interested in beef, sheep, swine, meat goats, or market poultry programs. Check out the 4-H news for more information. Please register by March 6th by calling the 4-H office.

2023 COOKIE SALE (PRE-ORDER, PRE-SALE ONLY)

  • The Wyoming County 4-H Cookie Sale kicks off this MONDAY February 20th – Sunday March 6th. All 4-H families should have received detailed information in the mail regarding the cookie sale including order forms, incentive sheets, and financial sheets. Attached to this email you will find digital copies of all of these forms if needed. Remember all 4-H’ers age 8+ are encouraged to sell cookies as funds from the sale directly impact the opportunities, we can offer to our 4-H youth! All orders are due to your selected cookie chair by Monday March 6th. Please call the cookie chair of your choosing this week to inform them that your club/family is selling cookies, so they expect an order from you! Cookie chairs are volunteers that commit time to this fundraising campaign and would appreciate communication ahead of time as best as possible. Feel free to call the 4-H office you have any lingering questions or concerns!
    • Dates: Monday, February 20th – Sunday, March 5th
    • Variety: Fudge Mint, Peanut Butter Crème, Lemon Crème, Maple Crème, Raspberry Whippets and Snickerdoodle Crème.

PUBLIC PRESENTATIONS

  • Our 4-H Public Presentation program has kicked off! We already held one session this Wednesday, and our final two dates are next Thursday February 23rd (5-8pm) and Saturday February 25th (9-12pm). Registration has closed for this event. If youth are signed up for either upcoming date and can no longer attend, please call the 4-H office as soon as possible to reschedule. We look forward to hearing some more fabulous presentations next week!

BREAD IN A BAG

  • Tuesday, February 28th at 6:30PM Agriculture & Business Center, Warsaw. Youth will have fun making a loaf of bread to take home and bake! Cost: Free Open to 4-H members 8 and up. Must pre-register in advance. Class space is limited!


LET’S GET JAMMIN’!

  • Wednesday, March 15th 6:30pm Ag & Business Center, Warsaw. Open to 4-H youth ages 10 and up. Cost: $5 per person; limited to 15 participants. Youth will learn how to make USDA approved jam - a recipe that can be replicated and submitted in the youth building at fair! We will also make freezer jam for tasting (not a fair approved recipe). Pre-registration and payment required by Friday, March 3rd. Call the 4-H office at 585-786-2251 to register.


VERMICOMPOSTING 101

  • There is still time to register for the upcoming Tractor Safety series. Youth that will be 14 years old by April 1, 2023, may participate in the Certification Program which begins on January 23rd at the 4-H office. All other participants will start on February 6th at Larry Romance in Arcade.
